Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 28th, 2025
1. Introduction
Welcome to Avalon Individualized Learning ("AvalonIL"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in an open and transparent manner. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our platform.
2. Information We Collect
We collect two distinct types of information:
- Personally Identifiable Information (PII): This is information necessary for the application to function, such as your name, email address, role (teacher, student, etc.), class rosters, and grades. This data is treated as a secure, permanent record with strictly controlled access.
- Anonymized Engagement Data: We collect non-identifiable data about how you interact with our platform. This includes time spent on tasks, features used, and AI tool interactions. This data is completely anonymized and linked only to a random user ID, not to your personal information.
3. How We Use Your Information
- PII is used solely for the operation of the AvalonIL platform, such as managing your account, displaying grades, and facilitating communication between teachers and students. We do not sell or share your PII with third parties for marketing purposes.
- Anonymized Engagement Data is used for analytical purposes to improve our services. By analyzing these anonymous patterns at a large scale, we can understand which learning tools are most effective, identify areas where users struggle, and enhance the overall educational experience for everyone. This data is our "Insight Engine" and is key to our research and development.
4. Data Security
We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information. Our "dual-track" architecture is designed to provide robust security by isolating your PII in a digital "Secure Vault" separate from our analytical "Insight Engine." Access to PII is strictly controlled by cryptographic permissions.
5. Third-Party Services
We may use third-party services, such as Google for authentication or AI model providers. These services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them. We do not share your PII with these services beyond what is necessary for their function (e.g., your email for authentication). Our AI provider, Google, does not use your inputs to train their models.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new privacy policy on this page. You are advised to review this policy periodically for any changes.
